Spiders are a new enemy added in Alan Wake's American Nightmare. According to a manuscript page, whilst they are a form of Taken, they're a side effect, "a part of the Dark Place's less significant fauna that has managed to slip through the opening".
You can kill them by either burning them away with light or shooting them, but it's not so easy as they are always in groups.
