Sam Lake is a character in the Alan Wake franchise. He is an actor known for portraying Alex Casey in the movie adaptations of Alan Wake's novels, as well as a video game developer for Poison Pill Entertainment.

Alan Wake[]

Sam Lake only briefly appears when he appears on The Harry Garrett Show alongside Alan Wake, where he is asked to "do the face".

Night Springs[]

In an alternate reality, Sam Lake was also a video game Director for Poison Pill Entertainment.

Alan Wake 2[]

Sam Lake first appears after Alan begins to rewrite the events of the talk show In Between With Mr. Door, where Sam is claimed to be the actor portraying Alex Casey in the movie adaptations of Alan's books, who Alan states he looks exactly how he imagined Casey to look like, and Sam claims to be a huge fan of Alan's books. After the show watches a clip of Sam's newest movie, Murder Case Casey, Sam, alongside Mr. Door, the Old Gods of Asgard and the audience, disappear.

His final two appearances come when he performs in a musical number for In Between With Mr. Door with Alan Wake, Mr. Door and the Old Gods. He then appears later tied up to a chair with a deer mask on as Alan tries to escape Poet's Cinema, telling Alan not to pick up the knife on the table and stab him. As Alan goes to grab the knife, Sam manages to break free from his restraints and escape.

  • Sam Lake is one of two characters in the franchise to be named after the actor portraying them, with the other being Shawn Ashmore.
  • Sam's first appearance in Alan Wake 2 mirrors that of his first appearance in Alan Wake, where he appears on a talk show alongside Alan Wake.
  • The face Sam pulls is a clear reference to the face of Max Payne.
  • Due to Sam Lake and Alex Casey having the exact same face, Alan Wake once mistook Alex for Sam.
