QR Codes (Quick Response Codes) are a type of matrix bar code. You scan them with a compatible device and they will take you to a certain piece of content. While Alan Wake on the Xbox 360 did not have these codes, Remedy Entertainment decided to hide them within the PC version of the game for gamers to scan themselves. Below are the QR codes you can find in the game, where they can be found, and where they lead you.
Episode 1: Nightmare
- Location: On the billboard in Alan's dream.
- Where it Leads: Scanning it will take you to the Official Alan Wake Facebook.
Episode 2: Taken
- Location: On the wall of Alan's apartment in his study room.
- Where it Leads: Takes you to a phrase that reads "Huh. Turns out this isn't too bad even if you're not sitting on a couch when you play it. Who knew!". It's a reference to Microsoft and Remedy, who both said the best way to play Alan Wake was sitting on the couch.

Episode 4: The Truth
- Location: Upstairs in the Cauldron Lake Lodge
- Where it Leads: Takes you to a GIF of Sam Lake on "The Harry Garret Show" pulling the Max Payne face with the quote: "Constipation. That looks Payneful".
