Painted are enemies that appear in Expansion 2: The Lake House. They are shards of The Painting, the "self-portrait" of Rudolf Lane made when filled with the rage at the way Jules Marmont and Diana treated him, and are thus fundamentally hostile to members of the Federal Bureau of Control, attacking Kiran Estevez upon recognizing her as an agent.
They often lurk in paint stained walls and canvases, waiting to strike or ambush any unassuming victims. The cannot be stopped by either bullets or light, but can be briefly stunned by flashbangs. The only thing that seems to be capable of completely destroying a painted is black rock powder.
