The Hunting rifle is a conventional weapon and is one of the weapons Alan Wake utilizes against the Taken. It is found in both Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

In-Game description[]

The hunting rifle's not very fast, but it drops most enemies with a single shot. In fact, it does you one better -- the bullet will go right through and take care of the next one, too.

Description[]

The most powerful conventional weapon in the game, it is capable of eliminating most enemies with a single shot. It holds five rounds of ammunition per clip.

Characteristics[]

The hunting rifle is the most powerful gun available in the game aside from the flare gun. It holds five rounds and ammo is generally scarce but its stopping power is equal to four revolver hits and is enough to kill some of the most powerful Taken in 1-2 shots. The hunting rifle occupies the upper slot, meaning you can't carry a shotgun and a hunting rifle at the same time.

The hunting rifle is also featured in Alan Wakes American Nightmare and is made available to the player after they have collected 15 manuscript pages. The Hunting Rifle can be found near the storage unit of the Mount Redtooth National Observatory. Functionally, it is nearly identical to its counterpart in Alan Wake (aside from the fact that it can take out multiple enemies in a single shot). However, it is aesthetically different from the original in that it features a large hunting scope. Also, ammo is found much more frequently. It is modeled after the Remington Model 7 CDL. Judging by the 5-round capacity, it might be chambered in .17 Remington Fireball.

Trivia[]

  • In American Nightmare the hunting rifle has a scope, while in Alan Wake it doesn't, this is probably to make it stand out from the carbine rifle that is only in American Nightmare.
