Children of the Elder God was a song played by the fictional band Old Gods of Asgard.
Lyrics
Warriors, torchbearers, come redeem our dreams
Shine a light upon this night of otherworldly fiends
Odin's might be your guide, divorce you from the sane
Hammer's way will have its say, rise up in their name
Yeah
Memory and Thought
Jet black and clawed
Oh, Children of the Elder God
(Children of the Elder God!)
Oh, Scourge of light upon the dark
(Scourge of light upon the dark!)
Scratching hag, rake your claws and gnash your crooked teeth
You've taken slaves like ocean waves, now feel the ocean seethe
Father Thor, bless this war, between the dark and light
In their songs let their wrongs bring dissolution's night
Yeah!
Memory and Thought
Jet black and clawed
Oh, Children of the Elder God
(Children of the Elder God!)
Oh, Scourge of light upon the dark.
(Scourge of light upon the dark!)
Trivia
- The lyrics mention the brothers' two ravens, Memory and Thought.
- The scratching hag is obviously referring to Barbara Jagger, the main antagonist of Alan Wake.
- The otherworldly fiends are also referencing the Taken, meaning that the brothers also ended up fighting The Darkness before like Thomas Zane and Alan Wake. This is also supported by a manuscript page, stating that they have encountered these shades before.
- The battle between dark and light is also a recurring theme in Alan Wake.
- The song also references how the darkness "takes slaves like ocean waves" meaning that they know about how the Taken become what they are as well as where the darkness originates.
- This song also appears in the Remedy produced game "Quantum Break". It is sung by a time fractured Monarch Solutions employee during the Research Facility section of Act 3, Part 1.
