I'm writing this post as this wiki is in need of a vast update. I've done some various changes; you may notice the homepage has been given a facelift since it was using an old template from way back in 2010. However there are many articles that still need pages for, most specifically anything Alan Wake related that appears in the Control video game.
One thing I'd absolutely like to try to have, at least on all the "character" pages, is a list of appearances of where a character appears in. So for example, Cynthia Weaver. She appears in Alan Wake, Episode 1 and Episode 5, so that could be linked at the b…
Rumoured since June 2021, Sam Lake, the co-founder of Remedy Entertainment, took to Twitter to announce through a post on Alanwake.info (The Sudden Stop fan-site) that a remastered version of Alan Wake is indeed real and coming in Fall 2021.
"Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades."
As recent as this past weekend (4th-5th September) Alan Wake Remastered had been leaked on various online stores, though these were quickly taken down. One thing these sites had in common is they stated a releas…
Wario64, known to finding deals and information relating to upcoming video games, has spotted that a listing for Alan Wake Remastered can be found on the Epic Games Store.
Previously it was rumoured that Alan Wake 2 was coming and that it would be published by Epic Games also, which would make sense. Whether or not Alan Wake 2 or even Alan Wake Remastered are Epic Games Store exclusives or will also come to console is yet to be seen.
You can see Wario64's tweet here: https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1405803861441347586?s=19
After a new Alan Wake title was seemingly teased in the second DLC of Control, we have a new rumour on its development.
On Jeff Grubb's Twitch stream titled "Jeff Grubb's Game Mess", he stated that the rights to publish Alan Wake 2 was actually in a bidding war, and Epic Games was the one who won the rights to publish it. Previously Remedy had stated they were working with Epic Games to have multiple new games published.
You can watch Jeff discuss this rumour here:
Yesterday (25th October 2018) Alan Wake returned to Steam just in time for Halloween.
To celebrate this, Remedy has also slashed the price of it by 80%, selling at £2.28/$3.00. What's better is that the entire franchise is currently selling at 80% off, which means it includes Alan Wake's American Nightmare also.
Currently the game is only available digitally on Steam but Remedy have stated the game will return to other digital stores soon. The reason why Alan Wake was removed from digital stores in the first place was due to licensing issues of some of the songs found in the game.

Showbiz site Variety has just exclusively revealed that Alan Wake will be adapted into a TV show.
The TV show, which currently does not have a release window, will be adapted by 'Legion' and 'Cloak and Dagger' Executive Producer Peter Calloway with creator of the Alan Wake franchise Sam Lake also signed up to executive produce.
Tomas Harlan, a partner of the studio named Contradiction Films tasked in developing it said "Alan Wake was basically a TV series that was put into a game. That was Sam’s vision. It was influenced by ‘The Twilight Zone,’ ‘Secret Window,’ Hitchcock, ‘Northern Exposure,’ a lot of U.S. television. We plan to work closely with Sam on our this show. Sam is a huge part of this. This is his baby.”
Sam Lake previously stated b…
The new game footers are brought to you by Encyclopedia Gamia and our very own Games Hub. The basic goal is simple: draw together Wikia communities in one location that enjoy the same genres and hopefully expose them to some new games and communities they might be interested in. Our secondary goal is to try and connect editors looking for help with members and administrators from other wikias who are interested in helping them out, whether it be with content, technical knowledge, or insight gleaned from running a community.
If you haven't already been approached, feel free to include your site in the submission section below in the genre you feel is most appropriate for the game you cover. Note that, with rare exception, a game should only…
If the Alan Wake 2 will be released, how it should be? For my, it should be sandbox with option to travel along Bright Falls and that town from "2" what about Sam Lake was talking. The Taken should have riffles from Nineteenth century. And it should be some machine gun, cause hunting riflfes from Alan Wake 1 wasn't the best gun I've ever seen in this game. And it could be a co-op with Barry/Sarah in one console and split screen or by the internet. What's your opinion?
As part of Steam's Holiday Sale, you can get Alan Wake for 90% off it's original sale price... both games that is.
Both Alan Wake and American Nightmare are up for sale, so click the link and buy the franchise now.

When Remedy revealed their newest game, Quantum Break, there were a lot of people who were less than pleased with it. Many fans were expecting Alan Wake 2, only to be disappointed.
A day after the announcement, Sam Lake took to YouTube and talked to Remedy's fanbase about the prospects of Alan Wake 2 and why it is not in development.
"When Alan Wake came out, it was not a huge hit on day one. It has been doing really well since then, and has moved more than three million – which is a nice figure. But when the game was released, that was not the case immediately. And even though we worked hard on it, the sequel was not happening. The time wasn’t right for that."
Although things seemed doomed, Lake did not say this was the end.
"We definitely wa…
The next Xbox was revealed today, being called the "Xbox One". Whilst most of us were hoping for an Alan Wake 2 announcement, we got something else instead.
Mixing live-action scenes and gameplay, Remedy announced Quantum Break. Not much is known about it yet, but what we saw was a family moving house with a little girl revealing she has some strange power to her mother. We then see a ship crash into a boat.
The game will use the element of time, much to that of Remedy's "Bullet time" in Max Payne. The tagline is "Time is the fire in which we burn."
The game is due to be released exclusively on the Xbox One in 2014.
In February, Sony took to the stage to reveal their next generation console, the Playstation 4. This May, it's officially Microsoft's time, where they have scheduled an event Xbox related, with the tagline "A New Generation Revealed".
"On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment," Major Nelson wrote.
"On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada.
"On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles,…

So I've been an administrator for the Alan Wake Wiki for almost 3 years now. I've loved being an administrator, and although I may not always be around, there's no doubt I'm still going to be an administrator for this wiki for a good while yet.
We're well into the new year, and there's no doubt an announcement for Remedy's new game is just on the horizon (here's hoping it's Alan Wake 2). So I thought, to celebrate, let's set up a small competition.

So, last year I wrote an evaluation essay for a college compositon class about the game Alan Wake. Below is the full text, hope whoever reads this enjoys it.
Alan Wake: More than Just a Video Game
If a video game exists today that can be called a work of art, it’s Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake. As a game, Alan Wake’s genre is “third-person shooter/psychological thriller”. The game isn’t strictly horror-based, just as it isn’t strictly a shooting game. Rather, the game is more about survival and telling a story in a similar way to some of the best novels written by Stephen King himself. Like King’s novels, Alan Wake has a story that is full of vivid descriptions, foreshadowing, and cliffhangers in addition to the actual horror elements…
I forgot to add something- I didn't know I would only be blocked for 3 days, I thought it would be indefinite.
Because of my past actions [inserting gibberish into pages] I would like to apologize to this wiki and especially RadiNightingale. I hope you could forgive me too and accept me back into this wiki.
Hello! Once again, guys! Since my former account won't let me login, I started a new one! Which means I'M BACK for MORE EDITING AND ACHIEVEMENTS!
If I may remember correctly I found out about Alan like 2 or 3 years ago on a YouTuber's Gaming Channel. And I instantly got hooked. I loved the graphics, the story, the characters, the achievements, the items, the songs and the weapons! Everything was INSANE! And when the American Nightmare game came out earlier this year it reminded me of all those memories.
You have to be quick. You only have 7 hours to pick up all the Alan Wake games on Steam, which is 75% off until 4PM BST (9AM approx in eastern America) (check time zones for conversion).
After the time ends, the franchise should go back to 50% off, so get it while it's cheap!
You're looking at just under £8/$10 for the entire franchise if you buy it as a bundle.
So if you're someone visiting this wiki for the first time, or perhaps own the games on the Xbox 360 and want them all over again, good news.
Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare are both 50% off on Steam.
- Alan Wake - £11.49/$14.99
- American Nightmare - £5.99/$7.99
And if you already own Alan Wake on PC, you'll still be eligible to get 15% off American Nightmare!
Buy them! Offer ends 23 July 2012! Here's hoping they may be further discounted later on in the sale! But don't just think as Alan Wake as the only game you need to buy. So many other great games are on sale too!
The Max Payne franchise, the other gem Remedy developed, are on sale too, with the first 2 games selling for just £2.99/$4.99. And although it's not deve…
"Ordinary" could be the setting of the next Alan Wake game. In the alternate reality blog, This House of Dreams, that Sam Lake commented on in July 5th, a woman named Samantha has recently bought a house in the town called "Ordinary", (which could be the exact town that is located in Virginia with the same name). Samantha also found a shoebox in her attic that contains poems from Thomas Zane and pictures with a man and a woman in a boat with their faces smudged with black ink. (most likely Thomas Zane and Barbara Jagger). Ordinary, Virginia is right next to the ocean and could be connected to Alan's last words in the end of Alan Wake (Season 1): "It's not a lake, it's an ocean". The shoebox, that Samantha found, dissapeared for 3 fictional …
I guess all of you saw that tweet from Sam Lake... I'm just so excited. I'm almost 100% sure it won't be a spin-off, because of Nightingale (based upon the blog he is the "new Barbara Jagger".)
What do you think about the blog, the news, about a possible new Alan Wake? What do you think will Ordinary look like?
So I'm obviously new to this wiki and I was just wondering how many users are out there?
If you are an active user, leave a comment, just so I can get an idea.
More info will be out closer to the release date, hopefully it will come with a few extras like the Alan Wake PC edition did.
because they have complex code? anyone know why?

You guys may be happy to know that Alan Wake's American Nightmare will arrive on PC on May 22nd.
You may want to pre-purchase it now too on Steam, because you'll get 10% off if you do, PLUS an extra 15% off if you own the first Alan Wake on PC. Better yet, the first Alan Wake on PC has had it's price slashed in half until Thursday by 50%, so get them now.

So yesterday, I updated the default achievements for the wiki.
I have now added 4 more sets of achievements you can earn from either:
1. Editing either
Alan Wake (Character), Insane Alan and Mr
Scratch. I only want the "Alan Wake (character)" on these
three characters. If the tag is placed on any other character for
cheating, then you have been warned...
2. By editing any Character article that has the "Characters" tag on it.
3. By editing any Achievement article with the "Achievements" tag on it.
So that adds another 1140 points to earn! :D
Hey Everyone, this may be old news to some of you, but the Poets of the Fall (aka Old Gods of Asgard) released a song a while back entitled "War." It is actually one of my favorites by them, and while it might hold some symbolic references to the Alan Wake series, there is nothing really explicit. But what you might not know/have seen is the music video for the song....which is nothing less than awesome. Featuring Ilkka Villi as Alan Wake. So for those of you who have not seen it, enjoy, if you have seen it before, why not see it again? link
So ToCxHawK and LaVolpesBite thought that maybe this Wiki should include achievements. I wanted to do this months ago, but had no idea how to. I have figured it out now, and now you can have fun on the wiki with lots of achievements you can earn.
I have updated the titles so something more... Alan Wakey. Some simple achievements you can earn:
Add to your own user page
Radio Show Host
Write 1 blog post (0/1)
"You Suck, Eddie"
Write a comment on 3 different blog posts (0/3)
"Try the Coffee"
Leave someone a message on their talk page
These four are so simple! Feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You know, just for the achievement :D Also, leave a comment on this blog post. It'll count towards the "You Suck, Eddie" a…
Hey Everyone, seeing as how this is, after all, the Alan Wake wiki, I just wanted to extend an invitation to all you Facebook users out there to take a look at the Alan Wake Facebook page. Here I keep everyone up to date on the latest Alan Wake news, screenshots, and videos; as well as updates from Remedy Entertainment. So head on over if you want to keep informed on all things Alan Wake. So please follow the link and give it a like, also, be sure to tell your friends and anyone you know that is a fan of the series. Anyway, here's the link.
Hey guys, Charlie here.
I've been watching all of the things you guys have been helping with; adding story elements, fixing grammar and punctuation (some from me. Haha). I just thought I'd say that you guys are doing a brilliant job to helping make this Wikia great.
Hope you're all enjoying Alan Wake as much as I am and keep up the great work! :)
If you don't already know, you can now download Remedy Entertainments next Alan Wake game, American Nightmare, on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1200.
It tells the story of Alan and Mr Scratch. Alan finds himself in Night Springs, caught in Mr Scratch's trap which he himself has to try and find a way out of.
It took just under 2 years, but it is finally here on the PC. You can buy the game through steam for £22.99 for the UK and $29.99 for the US.
Just thought I'd tell you too that for a limited time, you'll get the collectors edition for those prices instead of the standard edition. This includes the Soundtrack, The Alan Wake Files in PDF and the Developers commentary. This is up until the 23rd February 2012 so you better hurry!
Alan Wake PC: http://store.steampowered.com/app/108710/
Remedy Entertainment has announced that within the spin-off Alan Wake's American Nightmare, there will be an arcade mode entitled Fight 'Till Dawn, which will have players placed into an intense battle with waves and waves of enemies coming after Alan Wake. Wake will attempt to overcome these enemies as he gains new weapons and safe havens and attempts to rack up a higher and higher score. This mode will also feature online leaderboards that will enable you to see who is the best player out of all of your friends.
What do you think about the addition of this arcade mode? I personally think that it will lead to a lot more replay value in the game and it seems pretty cool.
It's a PC gamers dream! What started out as a rumor when the game was found on Steam's registry just yesterday, it has been announced that Alan Wake is indeed coming to PC.
In 2005, the game was originally going to be on the PC. Throughout the years, the Xbox 360 and PS3 were added to that, until finally the game only came out on the Xbox 360. Finally, the PC gamers dream has come true.
For more details: http://www.nave360.com/alan-wake-officially-coming-to-pc/
Earlier today, Alan Wake was found on Steam's registry. This could be all that is needed to confirm the existence of the PC release, after Sonic Generations was also placed on the registry, where the PC version was later confirmed and released.
Just after the reveal of Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Remedy’s Aki Järvilehto said in an interview:
“We have received feedback from a lot of PC gamers, and I have to admit that yes, we somehow ignored that. Let’s see if in the near future we could have some positive news to tell you about dating!“
Go here: http://www.nave360.com/alan-wake-found-on-steams-registry/ for full details and pictures.
The VGAs have ended, and with it came the brand new trailer of the next Alan Wake game called Alan Wake's American Nightmare.
You can find the trailer online, but it seems to be out of sync. For an indepth view of the trailer, go here.
The game is to be released Q1 2012.
Remedy Entertainment have revealed that they are working on an Alan Wake game, however, it is not Alan Wake 2, neither is it more DLC.
"Oskari Häkkinen said "Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that, yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. But neither will it be DLC. The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually SHOW YOU.""
Gohere to read all about it.
It's been a while since the last Alan Wake-related news. However, it looks like Alan Wake 2 might be coming soon!
Althea Gata, an artist who worked at Halon Entertainment in April 2011, mentioned having worked on in-game cinematics for Alan Wake 2 on her LinkedIn page. This bit has since been removed. Halon Entertainment is a company responsible, among other things, for the Deliver Hope live-action trailer for Halo: Reach.
Alan Wake developer Oskari Hakkinen said last year that Microsoft had the option to pick up a sequel to the original game and suggested that the second game would be developed more quickly than the first time, which was being worked on for 5 years.
